Simba SC sign new striker Masoud Frederick Masanga to replace Mavugo

After being snubbed by Burundian international Laudit Mavugo, Simba SC have reacted quickly to bring in Congolese striker, Masoud Frederick Masanga, to fill the former's void.
Simba's President, Evance Aveva, confirmed to the 'Daily News' yesterday that Masanga from Lubumbashi's side St Eloi Lupopo FC arrived in the country on Sunday night alongside another Congolese player, whose name could not immediately be established and straight away, they went to join the team in Morogoro for trials.
"It is true that we've imported two players from FC Lupopo and they have since joined the team's camp in Morogoro," said Aveva. He said the technical bench under head coach Joseph Omog will scrutinize the players and decide on whether to make the permanent move or otherwise," he said.
The duo brings the number of foreign players currently with the club to nine. Others are striker Ndjack Anong Guy Serges from Cameroon, defender Juuko Murshid (Uganda), midfielder, Goue Frederic Noel Blagnon and goalkeeper Vincent Agban (Ivory Coast).

TFF Releases Fixtures, the Dar Derby Set for October

Dar es Salaam — Young Africans and Simba SC fans will have to wait longer for their teams to lock horns in one of the most exciting derbies on the continent.

The two Dar es Salaam clubs, which are as old as the Tanzanian football, will square up on October 10 at the 60,000-seater National Stadium. Simba will be hard-pressed to win the October encounter to avenge last season's defeats. They lost both matches by a margin of 2-0 with Yanga marching on to clinch the title for the second consecutive season.

Besides plotting the downfall of the Jangwani Street giants, Simba would also want rack up points that will help them in the title race having failed to win the league since the 2011/12 season.
The 2011/12 season was also their last to qualify for the Caf-organised club championships, dealing them a massive blow financially.

The 2016/17 Vodacom Premier League will kick off on August 20 with six matches on the cards.
However, the league kickoff will be preceded by a fast growing Dar derby between Yanga and Azam.
The two sides will duel in the Community Shield showdown, which marks the beginning of the new season. The match will take place on August 17 at the National Stadium.

On the opening day of the anticipated tough season, the fallen giants, Simba SC will host Ndanda FC at the National Stadium as last season's runners-up Azam FC welcome African Lyon at Azam Complex.

Others matches set for the day are Kagera Sugar versus Mbeya City (Kaitaba Stadium), Toto African vs Mwadui FC (Kirumba Stadium), Stand United vs Mbao (Kambarage Stadium) Mtibwa Sugar vs Ruvu Shooting (Manungu ground) and Majiamaji who will face Tanzania Prisons at Majimaji Stadium in Ruvuma.
Yanga, the defending champions, will start their title defence on August 31 with a match against JKT Ruvu at the National Stadium.

The match has been pushed back because Yanga will be facing TP Mazembe of DR Congo in the group B second leg of the Caf's Confederation Cup when the league kicks off.

Chelsea have signed Leicester City midfielder N'Golo Kante

Chelsea have signed Leicester City midfielder N'Golo Kante on a five-year deal for a fee believed to be in the region of £30m.

The defensive midfielder joined from Caen last summer for £6m and went on to make 40 appearances in Leicester's Premier League-winning campaign.

Kante, 25, was part of the France squad that reached the final of Euro 2016.
"I am so happy to have signed for one of the biggest clubs in Europe. It's a dream come true for me," he said.

Kante is Chelsea's second signing of the summer after Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi joined from Marseille.

"The opportunity to work with Antonio Conte, a brilliant coach, and some of the best players in the world was simply too good to turn down," said Kante.

Leicester said they accepted a club record fee on Friday before Kante finalised terms and completed a medical.

"Despite the offer of a substantially improved, long-term contract, it became apparent that N'Golo's wish was to join Chelsea," said a Foxes statement.

Leicester striker Jamie Vardy turned down a move to Arsenal earlier in the summer, but there is continued speculation winger Riyad Mahrez could leave.

Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo described Kante as a "fantastic" signing with "exceptional quality".
"He is a perfect fit in terms of Antonio Conte's philosophies and the style of football he wants to play," added Emenalo.

Meanwhile, Conte lost his first game in charge as they were beaten 2-0 by Rapid Vienna in a friendly. Chelsea fielded a strong side captained by John Terry and including Branislav Ivanovic, Nemanja Matic, Willian, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Diego Costa.

Ed Woodward: Man Utd chief not on tour flight amid Paul Pogba bid rumours

Woodward (centre) was appointed Manchester United executive vice-chairman in 2013

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has not gone on the club's tour of China amid reports of a world-record bid for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.
Managing director Richard Arnold was the senior executive on the trip, which includes games against Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City.

It has been reported United will make a bid in excess of £105m for Pogba.
The Frenchman left the club for free in 2012, joining Juventus.

It is anticipated Woodward will join the tour at some point, and it is not known whether his absence is connected to the reported approach for Pogba.

United are interested in the France international, whose agent Mino Raiola - who also acts for summer signings Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan - is in Italy.

Ibrahimovic, who moved to Old Trafford after his contract expired at French side Paris St-Germain, was not selected by manager Jose Mourinho for the tour.

Mourinho did not select any player whose team went beyond the last 16 of Euro 2016, but Ibrahimovic's Sweden were knocked out of the group stage.

United's tour begins on Friday when they play Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai before meeting Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in a hugely anticipated game in Beijing's Bird's Nest Stadium on Monday.
